Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome to first grade! I am so very excited about the start of another wonderful school year! This year is going to be very busy and exciting as we explore, learn, and imagine. I hope that you are looking forward to it as much as I am.
I would like to take a minute to introduce myself to all of you. This is my ninth year at Douglas and my eightth year teaching first grade. I have also been a kindergarten teacher assistant and 4th/5th grade teacher assistant here at Douglas. I am originally from Fairhope, Alabama. I went to college at the University of Mississippi. After graduation, I moved to Colorado Springs, where I met my husband, Seth. We moved to Raleigh in 2006.
In 2010, I went back to school to get my Master’s in Education at North Carolina State University. Seth and I have one son, Wesley, who will turn 6 this November and one daughter, Allie, who will turn 4 this October. We also have two dogs, Jesse and Sammy. Seth and I love the outdoors and spend much of our free time camping, hiking, and rafting.
I look forward to working with and getting to know all of you and your families! We are looking forward to a great year! Please feel free to contact me
if you have any questions or concerns.
Love,
Maggie Yearout
